What To Expect When You Choose Orlando's Landscaping, LLC For Your Sod Installation Needs

Soil Preparation
  • We start by preparing the soil where we plan to lay the sod. We remove any existing vegetation, rocks, debris, and weeds.
Grading and Leveling

We will ensure that the soil is graded and leveled properly to create a smooth and even surface for the sod to be laid on. This prevents uneven areas in the new lawn.

Irrigation
  • Before laying the sod, we will discuss irrigation needs and thoroughly water the prepared soil to ensure it's adequately moist but not soggy. Proper soil moisture is crucial for the sod's initial root growth.
Sod Delivery
  • We order our sod fresh from a reputable supplier and have it delivered on the same day we install it. Sod is perishable, so it's essential that we lay it as soon as possible after delivery.
Sod Installation
  • We will lay the sod in a staggered, brick-like pattern to create a tight fit and minimize visible seams. We also will butt the edges of the sod rolls together without overlapping them.
Cutting and Shaping
  • We will trim the edges of the sod to fit the desired shape of your lawn. We also will fill in gaps with small pieces of sod to create a seamless appearance.
Rolling
  • After laying the sod, we use a lawn roller filled with water to press the sod firmly against the soil. This ensures good soil-to-sod contact, helping the roots establish quickly.
Watering
  • We will water the newly laid sod thoroughly immediately after installation. This ensures that the soil beneath the sod is moist but not waterlogged. We ask our customres to keep the sod consistently moist in the following days and weeks to encourage root growth.
Fertilization
  • We recommend applying a starter fertilizer to provide essential nutrients for the newly installed sod. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for application rates.
Maintenance
  • Avoid walking on the newly laid sod for the first few weeks to allow the roots to establish. After about 2-4 weeks, the sod should have taken root, and you can gradually resume regular lawn activities.

Mowing a New Lawn

Begin mowing the new sod when it reaches the recommended mowing height for the specific grass variety you've installed.

Routine Care of Your New Sod Installation

Continue regular lawn maintenance practices, including watering, fertilizing, and weed control, to keep your sodded lawn healthy and vibrant.
